Dog Riders Headless Horseman Costume

We suspect the Headless Horseman got tired of people running away from him, so he decided to go with a less threatening method of transportation. This Headless Horseman costume for dogs consists of a clip-on doggie harness with a Headless Horseman figure riding a saddle that sits atop the harness. The horseman figure is beautifully crafted and painted, and he’s carrying his orange pumpkin head in one extended arm, so everyone will know who’s coming to town. The one-size-fits-most (for medium-sized dogs) harness is snug but not constricting or uncomfortable. It’s not your conventional Headless Horseman costume, but it’s fun and clever, and it’s sure to get a lot of attention from everyone in your town.

Bobble Head Pumpkin Adult Costume

This evil pumpkin-headed costume resembles the Headless Horseman in more ways than one. The only difference is that this one still has his head. But you can still haunt all your friends at the Sleepy Hollow Halloween party. This Headless Horseman costume features a long, black, scuffed-up robe with tatters and tears as the trimming. It also comes with a matching black shawl that you wear over your head like a hood. Pointy-fingered black gloves, a rope tie for a belt, and an oversized pumpkin head (with an evil grin and creepy yellow bobble eyes) finish the ensemble. The pumpkin head is lightweight, and stays on your head with ease thanks to interior elastic. It’s a Headless Horseman costume for the ghost who figured out how to put his head back on top of his shoulders. And it’s sure to cause a few nightmares around town as you ride into the night.

Pumpkin Slayer Adult Costume

Another pumpkin stalker rides in the night. This Headless Horseman costume is a spooky take on the ghostly horseman that haunts Sleepy Hallow. The costume consists of a tattered black cape that flows in the wind, a black fedora (for when the horseman finds his head), an orange jack-o-lantern stocking mask that goes all the way over your head, and a pair of pointy orange pumpkin gloves. This particular Headless Horseman costume is a new take on a classic villain, and it’s creepy, spooky, and a little unsettling—just like the headless rider  himself.

What’s the Story with Sleepy Hollow?

In Washington Irving‘s classic short story, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” Ichabod Crane is a superstitious traveling schoolmaster in the tiny town of Sleepy Hollow, New York. Ichabod finds himself falling for the young Katrina Van Tassel, the only child of a wealthy farmer, and he tries to woo her in the hopes of getting at her family’s fortune. But he’s not the only one with his eyes on Katrina; her boyfriend, the hulking troublemaker Brom Bones, decides to play some pranks on the snooty schoolteacher to get him to back off. Unfortunately, most of his efforts ultimately don’t amount to anything.

One evening, after leaving a lavish party at the Van Tassel farm, Ichabod sees in the distance a large, dark figure on a large, dark horse. He believes it to be the Headless Horseman, a ghost who is said to haunt the town in search of his missing head. The Horseman chases Ichabod into the night, and that is the last anyone in the town ever sees of him. The audience doesn’t find out for sure what ever happened to Ichabod, but it’s made clear that whenever anyone tells the tale of the disappearance of Ichabod Crane, Brom Bones seems to get a knowing smile on his face. So, this Halloween, when you don your Headless Horseman costume, only you will really know the truth about what happened on that fateful night.
